Yes, you heard it right, and here’s how you can utilize this feature to track the actual status of your train without dabbling through various other tracking websites or calling the railways to inquire.
How To Check Live Train Running Status on Google?
Let’s say you have made a booking on a train from point A to B train stations in India and you want to track your train’s actual status, here’s how you can actually do it. Step #1: First up, launch Google Maps on your phone. Step #2: Enter your destination location or train station where Google Maps should automatically detect your location and then triangulate the distance and route to follow between the two points. Step #3: Of all the options that you see, select the “Train” logo that should give you access to public transport. Step #4: You should see a bunch of options after you select the “Train” logo. Tap on “All modes” and select “Train” so that Google Maps only returns results on trains. Note that even if you don’t follow this step, the results would remain the same. Step #5: You should see the list of trains that originate from your location and terminate at the destination train station including the actual time, current running status and the platform the train should arrive at. Apparently, the feature has gotten better compared to when I used it for the first time around. It gives you plenty of information including the current delays on the train in question. You can add a reminder to leave home on time. Tap on any train listed on the route and you should see the timings, stops, and ETA among other results.
