Previously available only to Windows Insiders, it’s now available for all users to check whether their hardware is compatible with Windows 11 update or not. Download the app and run it to check your eligibility.
Checking Eligibility For Windows 11
At the time when Windows 11 was announced, Microsoft rolled out a new app called the PC Health Check tool, which determines if a user’s PC is eligible for receiving the Windows 11 update or not. All it does is checking the system’s hardware against Microsoft’s ask on requirements for Windows 11 and show a pop-up revealing the result. The PC Health Check app was removed by Microsoft after facing some hardware controversies and was updated recently. Last month, it re-released the app with a list of updated CPUs eligible for Windows 11 but made it available only to Windows Insiders. And now, it’s available to all, as anyone with a Windows PC can download, install and run the app to check whether they’re eligible or not. To the unknown, Microsoft bumped most hardware requirements for running Windows 11, asking for a 4GB of RAM, a 64-bit CPU with at least two cores clocking at 1GHz speeds, and a 64GB of internal storage. Further, users need to have TPM 2.0 and Secure Boot too. This has been a significant hurdle for several potential users, as TPM 2.0 is unavailable in most custom-built PCs, and having it now requires purchasing additional hardware. Regarding CPUs, one needs to have at least a 7th generation Intel processor or a 2nd-generation AMD Ryzen processor (based on the Zen+ architecture). Mobile platforms with Qualcomm Snapdragon 850 chip or newer can run the Windows 11 too. All these can be validated easily through the PC Health Check app, available to all now.
