Moto G62 5G Review: Design
The design of the Moto G62 has nothing new to offer. It resembles other Motorola devices in terms of design and builds. The phone has a plastic body with a decent fit and finish. It is slim (8.6mm) and feels lightweight in hand weighing just 184 grams. The display has heavy bezels at the top and bottom with the selfie lens in the center of the top.

The camera housing module is pill-shaped which has become a common feature with Motorola devices these days. The device is a magnet to fingerprints and smudges which is pretty annoying. The backside has a smooth finish and a matte glass look which makes the device feel comfortable in hand. I received the Midnight Grey color variant for review and it looked decent from afar. The right side of the device houses the power button and the volume rockers whereas the left side has the SIM tray. The top edge features a speaker grille and a microphone whereas the bottom one features a 3.5mm headphone jack, USB Type-C port, and a speaker grille. The device comes with Gorilla Glass 3 protection and an IP52 rating so you do have some protection from external elements. The phone has a side-mounted fingerprint sensor that is quick and responsive. All in all, Moto G62 is a comprehensive package in terms of functionality, but cannot boast of a unique or out-of-the-box design. Moto G62 5G Review: Display
Motorola was doing extremely well in terms of the display as long as it featured AMOLED panels on its devices. Then, the brand decided to do away with AMOLED displays and replace them with LCDs. A similar tradition is being continued with the Moto G62 as it sports a 6.50-inch IPS LCD panel with 1080×2400 pixel resolution. LCD panel does its job well as the picture quality is decent and colors are lifelike and vibrant. Obviously, it can’t compete with the contrast of an AMOLED panel, but otherwise, it is decent. The Moto G62 5G features a higher, 120Hz refresh rate which is felt while scrolling and gaming. The display is smooth and supports FHD+ resolution for content consumption. There is no HDR certification and even the color accuracy is not that great. The display comes with a Widevine L1 certificate so you will be able to stream HD content right on your phone’s screen. The display comes with 600 nits peak brightness which is just about average when the screen is viewed in outdoor settings.
Moto G62 5G Review: Camera
The Motorola G62 5G features a triple camera setup at the back. The triple camera setup is similar to the one found on Moto G42 and G52. The main camera is 50MP along with an 8MP ultrawide lens and a 2MP macro camera. There is a 16MP front camera as well. Talking about the main lens, it gives decent shots in daylight. The shots have adequate detailing and look sharp. In terms of indoor photography, the shots are worth it only when the interiors are well lit up. If lighting is poor, shots suffer in quality. The dynamic range is just about average and shadows don’t come out well. The 2MP portrait lens captures images with too much softness and a lack of crispness and detail in these shots. In low light, there is noise in the clicks, which makes them poor in quality. There is no stabilization and thus taking shots with this macro lens becomes a task. It is better to avoid using this lens. As for the 8MP ultrawide camera, it also disappoints in terms of dynamic range. The colors are consistent and the area covered is adequate but there is room for improvement. The ultrawide angle camera performs its job well but has nothing new to offer. There is a 16MP selfie lens that shoots good selfies in broad daylight. The highlights look overblown at times and low-light selfies have noise as well. The focus is kept on the subject and the background is made to look secondary and the skin tones are real as well. The selfie camera has a good FOV and can capture group selfies well. Video recording is available at 1080p at up to 60fps. Videos in daylight look decent but fail to impress when taken in low-light conditions. In comparison, Redmi Note 11 Pro+ comes with a better camera setup.
Moto G62 5G Review: Performance
The performance of the Moto G62 5G is absolutely seamless and free of glitches. I used the phone as my primary device for a few days and the experience was good. My usage includes messaging, watching videos, browsing the internet, calling, clicking photos, and more. The smartphone is powered by Snapdragon 695 chipset that comes with up to 8GB RAM and 128GB storage. The phone offered reliable performance. The apps open and load quickly. Multiple apps run simultaneously in the background without any crashes or lags and 128GB storage provides ample space for storing photos, videos, audio, documents, apps, and more. The storage can be expanded up to 1TB. Since I am not much of a gamer, I tried playing Call of Duty on the Moto G62 and the game ran well with high frame and HQ graphics. The touch controls were fluid and the game loaded swiftly even after it was pushed to the background to access other apps. The following benchmark tests were performed on the device- The Moto G62 5G comes with dual stereo speakers and Dolby Atmos support, making the listening experience worthwhile. It runs Android 12 OS with MyUI custom skin. It gives a near-stock android experience. The UI is clean and clutter-free as there is hardly any bloatware or adware. The UI experience can be customized and personalized according to needs, making the device look colourful and vibrant. The call quality on the Moto G62 5G is decent. The signal strength was strong even in the double basement scenario and the voice of the person on the other hand did not have disturbance in between. There were no call drops as well. Moto G62 5G Review: Battery
The Moto G62 5G packs a massive 5000mAh battery under the hood. The battery lasts over a day with moderate usage. The usage includes calling, browsing, texting, watching videos, listening to music, and social media. I just had to plug it in at the end of the day. For light users, the battery will easily last for over 2 days. In terms of charging, the phone lags behind as it comes bundled with a 20W power adapter for fast charging. The 20W charger takes above 2 hours to charge the device from 0 to 100% which is very slow in comparison to many of its contemporaries.
Moto G62 5G Review Verdict: Should you buy it?
The Motorola Moto G62 5G is a good mid-ranger with all the necessary specs. The phone has a fast processor, ample RAM, and ROM, dual speakers, and support for 12 5G bands. It has a 120Hz refresh rate and a decent selfie camera as well. Though it lacks in terms of attractive design and the rear camera setup is underwhelming, then you have to decide which features are a priority for you. Having 5G bands makes it ready for the future and if you are looking for a 5G device for under 20k for daily use, then Moto G62 5G can be your choice.
